In a social media post, Singh stated that this achievement reflects a strong and sustained expansion in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities. The latest figure represents an increase of more than 15 percent compared to the previous financial year 2024–25, when defence production stood at ₹1.54 lakh crore.
Highlighting the broader growth trajectory, the Defence Minister noted that defence production has risen by 110 percent since the financial year 2020–21, when the output was recorded at over ₹84,000 crore. This sharp rise underscores the rapid acceleration of domestic manufacturing capacity within a relatively short period.
Singh further emphasized the long-term transformation in the sector by comparing current performance with the financial year 2013–14. He stated that indigenous defence production has increased fourfold from ₹4,746 crore in 2013–14, reflecting a significant structural shift toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing over the past decade.
The consistent upward trend in defence production highlights the expanding role of domestic industry, improved production infrastructure, and strengthened capabilities across public and private sector manufacturers. The figures indicate a sustained push toward enhancing national defence preparedness through indigenous development and reduced dependency on imports.
